Summary:
Shortly after the Civil war, a meteor crashed into Devil's Tower and the earth began to change. Strange creatures roamed lands once safe except for the occasional rattlesnake. A new ore, Devilstone, was discovered, with truly unbelievable properties. Some folks thought it was the end of the world. Some folks thought it was a new beginning. Some folks turned tail and fled. A few years have passed since the Great Trembling, and a small town has sprung up outside of Deadwood to house the miners and adventure seekers that have come for the Devilstone and the monster-infested Badlands. One of these men is Dr. Adam Lambert, PHD in the new field of Abstract Science. To watch over his valuable inventions and keep him safe on expeditions, he has hired the famous gunslinger, Kris Allen, better known as Arkansas to his face, or Krissy the Kid behind his back. The two men form a fast friendship as they round up evil-dooers, battle real-live nightmares, and make a few important discoveries about Devilstone, the human heart, and each other...OLD WEST BUT WITH STEAMPUNKY MAD SCIENTISTS AND HORROR SHOW CREATURES.

Review:
Dr. Adam Lambert, an eccentric inventor, and Kris Allen, his newly hired gun-slinging bodyguard, embark on adventures, first to help the locals in their small town, defeating bizarre mutant monsters and fighting off bandits, and later averting a secessionist plot that threatens the whole United States. In the midst of their adventures, they fall in love.

This is a highly imaginative steampunk western, written very much in the style of old serialized pulp novels, and a cousin to TV show and movie "The Wild Wild West." Like so many alternate universe fanfiction stories about real people, the people in question are more cast as characters that share their looks and some personality traits, and knowledge of the American Idol season 8 cast is not necessary to enjoy the fun. The story is a bit cracky, but in a fun, zany way.
