Title: So Wise We Grow
Fandom: Star Trek Reboot
Pairing: Kirk/Spock strictly speaking, but romance isn’t the focus of the story
Categories: action/adventure, angst, family, hurt/comfort, kids
Length: epic (81,000)
Warnings: death of minor characters, discussion of past child sexual abuse

Author's Summary: “Commander Spock, we have located your son,” the Vulcan lady on the screen says, which would be great, except Jim can tell by the look on Spock’s face that he’s never heard of this kid before in his life. “If it is expedient, the child will be sent to join you on the Enterprise within the week.”
Review:
By agreeing to co-guardian Spock’s long lost child, Captain Jim T. Kirk of the USS Enterprise embarks on a journey of new discoveries (that are vastly different from his usual kind and surprisingly emotional for situations involving Vulcans) and learn what parenthood is all about, the hard way—through trials and tribulation.
So Wise We Grow is the story of three very different individuals coming together and learn to live as a family. There’s Spock, master of logic and reason but is lost around his own child. And there’s Kirk, seemingly nonchalant about everything but takes his duties very seriously. Finally, there’s Storek, young and awkward, and knowing that he’s not actually Spock’s biological child didn’t and still doesn’t help things at all. No one ever said being a family was going to be an easy feat, but I think they did all right in the end.
Highly recommended, but just remember, most things in life are not rose-coloured nor do they come sugar-coated.
So Wise We Grow (masterlist, includes links to individual chapters and a single-file format)
