I am a sucker for post-Aliens AUs/fix-its, and this fic pushes all my buttons. Following their escape from the xenomorphs, Ripley is taking no chances, and makes sure that all of their little crew--Hicks, Bishop, Newt, and maybe even Jonesy--make it through. This is the ending the characters deserved and earned. Each of the survivors makes a contribution; there's a reason that Ripley (with her determination and smarts) and each of the others made it to safety. I love to imagine Ripley and co. continuing on their adventures in space as a crafty, paranoid and vigilant family.

Review:
Post Fire-sale, Matt and John bond while drugged up in the hospital, talking about how they'll enjoy all the little things they're missing once they get out. Afterwards, they fall out of touch until they meet amidst depositions, and they end up having weekly have-fun day. They bond watching movies (John's reaction to the Matrix series is priceless), go to the beach and museums, and finally get to their favorite Italian sausage sandwich. Basically they're dating without realizing it. During this, Matt realizes that his slight attraction to John has turned into something much more complicated, and tries to figure out how to deal with it.
Despite the dramatic sounding description, this fic is hilarious. The POV alternates between John and Matt, and we get both their quirky perspectives on the proceedings. I particularly loved the beginning sequence in the hospital, where they're both doped up on morphine during their "play date." I really liked the brief parts with the secondary characters: Warlock, Lucy and later John's OFC partner; each shows up briefly to add some humor (or sense) to the story.
Beyond that, this story is over ten thousand words! For yuletide! Anonymous writer, I salute you.

They’d saved the country, dammit. They deserved some fucking fun, and they were too lame to have any.
“That’s it,” Matt said, making a decision. “We’re going to do this, McClane. No excuses. We are too awesome to be so boring.”

Summary:
In a letter to Aristotle, Hephaiston documents a brief detour to Meiza, the site of his formative education. Unfortunately, what was supposed to be a peaceful few days reminiscing about old times is interrupted by two strange men the likes of which Hephaiston has never seen.
Review:
The great thing about a rare fandom challenge like Yuletide is the chance to have stories written in fandoms you love that rarely get attention, while on the other hand it's great to be exposed to fandoms you may have never considered. This story straddles both situations; I never would have thought to read Ancient Greece RPF until I saw a Bill & Ted story in the list of Yuletide fandoms, and I'm so glad I did.
Told from the perspective of Hephaiston, written as a letter to Aristole, we get a glimpse of Bill and Ted as they blunder around time trying to return the historical figures after the first film. Hephaiston's descriptions of Bill and Ted are hilarious, including "They seem harmless enough and don't seem intelligent enough to be spies," as he tries to figure out what the strange metal object his men have found is. The contrast between a serious leader communicating about his worries to a friend and the silly antics of Bill, Ted and friends is a blast.
Be excellent to yourself, and check this on out!
