Title: Life is What Happens When You’re Making Other Plans
Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Pairing: Giles/Wesley
Categories: au, fluff, romance
Length: Medium (~3,000 words)
Warnings: n/a

Author Website: WesleysGirl’s Fanfic

Review:
When the library gets the donation of two hundred boxes of books that need to be repaired, Rupert is authorized to hire a second full-time employee for the library. He chooses Wesley.

This is what I consider good fluff. Everyone’s completely in character. The story is enthralling, and best of all the writing is breathtaking. Perfect for a quick pick-me-up.

Title: Knot for Our Heart
Fandom: Firefly
Pairing: Mal/River
Categories: family, fluff, hurt/comfort, post-canon, supporting character pregnancy, almost virgin
Length: Long (~38,000 words)
Warnings: past abuse of River discussed, very difficult to navigate between chapters

Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] tesla321
Author Website: n/a

Review:
River and Mal understand each other. They may even understand each other better than anyone else on the crew. So when they kiss one night in the cargo bay, it’s not really that surprising. The only surprising thing is how long it takes everyone else to figure it out.

Tesla321 is one of those authors who really seems to write for her own amusement. This isn’t a bad thing. In fact, some of the best stories I’ve read have been indulgence fics. That being said, this story is a bit different from most you’ll find out there. It was written over a rather long period of time, and was never edited afterward for cohesiveness. The writing itself is really excellent, but there are a few easy to spot spelling and grammatical errors.

The story is light and easier to read in chapters at a time than as a whole. There are some overlaps between chapters, due to POV change. One thing I’ve noticed from reading tesla321’s other works is that she doesn’t shy away from partner betrayal or simple breaking up, or, best of all, the one-night-stand with a friend angle. I love how realistic this makes her fics.

Title: A Place Called Home
Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Pairing: Xander/Spike
Categories: fluff, hurt/comfort, fluff, romance, and, oh yeah, did I mention fluff
Length: long (~19,000 words)
Warnings: OOC, especially for Xander, but then again almost as much so for Spike

Authors on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] ladycat777, [livejournal.com profile] undeny
Lady Cat's Websites: (up to '05) Subtle Salvation, (after '05) Subtle Salvation

Review:
Xander wants to do something special for Spike. After a while, Spike wants to do something special for Xander right back.

Okay, have you ever had a really long day? You know, one of those days where work is pure hell and you’re expected to do something else afterward. This is the story I read on those days. It’s just so ridiculously sweet, and although the boys are out of character, it’s more a lack of build up than true OOC-ness. I’ll admit this is sweet enough to rot teeth, but it’s also got decent plot and a truly adorable ending.
