Help Pakistan

  • Aug. 22nd, 2010 at 5:33 PM
For those who haven't heard yet, there's a new fandom comm to [livejournal.com profile] help_pakistan .  There are a lot of great offerings there for folks to bid on, but the one we find most exciting is an offer for an Epic Recs Rec-A-Thon.  I'm offering up to fifty bonus recs, depending on what the bidding gets up to.  And, as an extra bonus, the other reccers at ER will match my recs up to twenty-five additional recs.  That means there is a total of (at least, because ya'll know how much we like tossing in additional recs wherever possible) seventy-five recs available for this reccing marathon! Best of all, it's for a good cause, so you can get your recs and feel good about them too.  Bidding is now open and will run until August 28th.

Also, if anyone is interested, I'm offering a fanfic here.  Ideal for small fandom fans!

Title: Highway to Hell, Michigan
Fandom: Supernatural/Zombieland
Pairing: gen, (with a little bit of het: Columbus/Wichita)
Categories: crossover, humor, zombies
Length: Medium (5,643 words)
Warnings: violence

Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] caithream / [livejournal.com profile] southwindow
Website: caithream at ff.net

Summary:
Okay, sure, call me paranoid, but I honestly didn’t know how much I trusted these guys. I mean, yeah, I did end up hitching with Tallahassee after knowing him for a full minute and a half, but for God’s sake, the man had a love affair with Twinkies. These guys looked like looked like they killed zombies as an Olympic sport.

Review:
This is a great mash-up of the Zombieland and Supernatural universes, told from the perspective of Columbus of Zombieland. I thought it was particularly clever how the Supernatural mythology was folded into and used to explain the zombies of the Zombieland univers. For Supernatural fans, you don't need to know anything about Zombieland other than it's set in a post-zombie-apocalypse world where there are few survivors.

The four main characters of Zombieland are saved from a zombie attack by two mysterious strangers. It's a great outside perspective of Dean and Sam of Supernatural, and it's fun to see the six characters interacting. Also, the Zombieland convention of taking a pseudonym for your destination point leads to Dean and Sam going by great false names.

Title: We Are Not Your Friends (We're Here To Eat You)
Fandom: American Idol/True Blood
Pairing: Adam Lambert/Kris Allen
Categories: AU, crossover, fusion, mystery, vampires
Length: Medium (10,730 words)
Warnings: Real Person Fiction, brief vampire biting/blood-play

Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] randomeliza
Website: [archiveofourown.org profile]randomeliza

Author Summary: "Welcome to Fangtasia," he says into the microphone, and grins sharply. "Eric says drink more."

Review: Adam is a vampire singer at Fangtasia and Kris comes in searching for a missing friend. I love the idea of Adam as a TB style vampire, and the chemistry between Adam and Kris is very hot.

There's a little bit of a mystery, with Adam helping Kris track down his friend, with cameos from Eric and Pam of True Blood. I do wish the mystery had been a bit more involved, but other than that it's a very enjoyable story and a fun exploration of the True Blood verse with AI people.
