Title: Saturation by Jane Davitt and Wesleysgirl
Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Pairing: Spike/Xander/Giles, Xander/Giles
Categories: angst, au, established relationship, hurt/comfort, post-canon
Length: Epic (~75,000 for the story and ~35,000 for the epilogue)
Warnings: non-consensual groping, bdsm and partner betrayal in the sequel, lots of hurt before the comfort

Review:
Xander and Giles are perfectly content with their relationship and their lives when Spike shows up on their doorstep. A newly human Spike.

I LOVE this story. It’s one of the only threesomes that I think works out better than the original pairing. The entire story is so well thought out and it’s especially nice that just because Spike is suddenly human, he hasn’t changed his personality any.

This also includes a sequel which I haven’t recced. Pervasion is still a good story, but doesn’t deal with the Spike/Xander/Giles relationship as much as it deals with Giles punishing Spike for his indiscretions and then both boys having to deal with the aftermath. It’s still a good story, but if you’re going for the happier ending, stop after Saturation.

Review:
Gibbs is surprised to discover that while he's still ambivalent about his renewed contact with his father, Tony has struck up a friendship with the man. And when Tony's injured, Jackson comes down from Stillwater to irritate Gibbs ... er, help look after Tony.

This story never fails to make me laugh out loud. Even when I go for stretches of reading it every single day (and there are times I do!), I'm still giggling uncontrollably by the end. The story actually starts out fairly straightforward, with some touching Gibbs concern for his senior field agent, but when Tony comes home from the hospital, a provoking Jackson and a puppy-pile of agents causes Gibbs's plans for a quietly supportive recuperation to devolve into slapstick. It's hilarious to see the usually tougher-than-everyone Gibbs thrown off his stride; plus, I never get tired of the "people have the wrong idea about them (which turns out to be the right idea)" slash trope, and this is one of fandom's funniest examples.

Wow. Just- wow. This is a powerful comic, with a lovely Ginny narrative, and some dead gorgeous art. The muted color scheme of the comic and the animations really make the story pop, and the last page is just killer.

Crazy!Harry has always been a favorite of mine, and I loved [livejournal.com profile] glockgal 's interpretation of his post-war life. This comic will really stick with you, and I highly recommend it, though it is definitely not for those who squick easily (see warnings).

Title: The Prize
Fandom: Star Trek: The Original Series
Pairing: Kirk/Spock
Categories: Harlequin, Romance, AU
Length: Long (~33,000 words)
Warnings: violence, slavery, BDSM, rape

Author on LJ: n/a
Website: Forsmutters Project

Summary: On a Vulcan where Surak's reforms never happened, the warrior Spock acquires a Human Slave.

Review:
Fans of Star Trek should really read this on two counts: one being that it's a long, engaging story, with some absolutely fantastic world-building. If you're a fan of harlequin romances, than this is definitely the fic for you. The second reason is that this a piece of fannish history; it was written in 1981, published in printed fanzine "The Price and the Prize" by Gayle Feyrer. This was before the Internet could connect fans effortlessly, when vidding actually involved video cassettes and meeting fellow fans meant traveling to conventions instead of logging onto your computer. This fic is one of the oldest examples of slash, with the pairing that created the term 'slash'. How cool is that? (has a geekgasm). Just thinking about it makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. :D
