That was fast:) As of this moment in time, Epic Recs has 1,002 readers and thus it's time for Recapalooza!
What is Recapalooza?
Short version? It's a fest of recs!
Long version? Two weeks of recs, recs, and more recs! First week we'll be giving you a minimum of ten recs per day. Super epics, small fandoms, Yuletide recs, and a few fandoms that have never been recced at Epic Recs before (hello, White Collar) -- it's all coming starting tomorrow.
Week two is your chance to rec on the comm. If you've ever wanted to see a story recced at Epic Recs, this is your chance. I'll put up a post tonight where readers can comment with full recs. No limit to the number of recs per reader, no limit to the total number of recs allowed. On week two, I'll be posting those recs to the comm.
On a personal note, when I started Epic Recs three years ago, I never imagined it would become the vibrant, engaging community that it is today. A huge thank you for all of our readers, to all of my co-reccers, and to everyone who has contributed to this comm through comments, readers' recs, and good wishes. You guys? Are the best!

Do you have a story that simply *must* be read? What about a favorite story in a fandom we just don't rec? Maybe a fic that you've read a hundred times and can't imagine why it hasn't been recced here before? If your answer to any of these questions is yes, then this is the RR for you. Recs posted here (and which follow the posting guidelines below) will be posted to the comm itself starting May 22. That's right -- our readers REALLY will be our reccers and we're eager to see what you want to share.
Don't hit the comment button just yet! Epic Recs has some strict posting guidelines that must be followed (we consider ER's consistent quality to be one of the main selling points of the comm) -- any comments that ignore any of the following rules will be disqualified.
Rules/guidelines:
-Recs will be posted the week of May 22-May 28. I'll do the actual posting and will credit the reader who wrote the rec.
-No limits! Rec early and rec often!
-Stories that have already been recced at ER may not be recced again.
-Stories must be complete and publicly available. If it requires a password (no matter how easy to get) or joining a comm/group/website (no matter how free), it cannot be recced at Epic Recs.
-Check your grammar and spelling. I don't mind fixing a typo or two, but I don't feel comfortable rewriting someone's rec.
-You may not rec your own fic or fic written for you. (Personally, I try not to even rec fic written by friends -- it's too hard to be unbiased.)
-To rec a story, copy and paste the following into the comment box and fill it out completely. Every space must be filled in. If the author doesn't have an LJ or website, or the story has no warnings, you should use n/a.
Title: [Title]
Author: [Author]
Rating: [G, PG, PG-13, R, or NC-17]
Fandom: [Fandom -- No abbreviations!]
Pairing: [Pairing -- fully spelled out! No portmanteau names]
Categories: [Categories -- check out our sidebar or tag list to see the ones available (listed under genres)]
Length: [Length -- you can use either the actual word count or our general length guidelines (see below) or both]
Warnings: [WARNINGS ARE NOT OPTIONAL. Chan, Rape/Non-Con, BDSM (this can be listed as a genre), Character Death all need to be warned for. If in doubt about a specific warning, feel free to contact me: janethunder at gmail dot com.]
[This must include both a summary of the fic and an explanation of why you liked it, including details. If you'd rather put the summary in its own section (we have a few reccers who do this) that's fine.]
Link to the story: [it's amazing how often folks forget this part]
-Length guidelines:
Short: under 2,000 words
Medium: 2,000-15,000 words
Long: 15,000-40,000 words
Epic: 40,000+ words
Recs will be accepted until May 21. I think that's everything, but I reserve the right to modify this list if there's something I think of later.
That said, have at it!

Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon are trapped in a cabin by a month-long storm. Their only source of entertainment? A Cosmo-like magazine with a test called 'How Well Do You Know Your Closest Companion?'
I've been reading some fairly heavy fic of late, so I was really happy to stumble across this piece of fluff. The questions are awesome (and very Cosmo-like), the answers are interesting, and the banter is entertaining. Ideal for anyone in need of a light, fluffy story.

Title: King of Infinite Space by seanchai and elspethdixon

Pairing: Tony/Steve pre-slash

Length: Epic (~40,000 words)

Review:
A villain from Tony's past comes back to cause trouble for the Avengers. At the same time, Tony begins to question his own sanity, due to nightmare-induced hallucinations.
Seanchai and Elspethdixon are the captains of the Steve/Tony ship and this is another excellent addition to the pairing. The story does start a bit slow, but by the time the action overtook the Steve and Tony angsting scenes, I was totally hooked. The plot line is interesting, Steve and Tony give good hurt, and the rest of the Avengers are awesome (especially Spiderman, who is rapidly becoming my favorite of S&E's sidekick characters).
All in all a solid comic-based fic perfect for anyone interested in Tony/Steve or even just in comic fic in general.

Review:
When the original John Sheppard dies, Rodney uses a quantum mirror to go shopping for a new Sheppard.
Generally speaking, I find that quantum mirror/universe swapping fic is very hit or miss -- either it's a huge hit or a huge miss. Fortunately Madison nails this one right out of the park. AU!John (aka Jay) is a fantastic character, just enough off from the original Sheppard to be utterly fascinating. Rodney is great as well: shattered by John's death and obsessed with the mirror, he decides on his outrageous plan and bulldozes everyone to make it happen. Best of all, however, are Jay's interactions with John's tight-knit team and the way he slowly finds his own place in Atlantis.
Overall, this is a great AU that combines the best of team-building fic with plenty of angst an intriguing look at John's character.

When the Winchesters settle down for a couple of months, Sam decides it's time for a little teenage rebellion. John? Not happy. Dean? Laughing his ass off.
What can I say? This fic is laugh-out-loud funny, completely in-character (albeit, in character if you regressed the boys a few years), and actually managed to make me feel a little sorry for John. An utterly charming glimpse at a happy time in the boys' childhood.
