Mac's bored. His user's asleep, PC's busy defragging, and it's been way too long since he last got laid. Luckily, he runs into PC's buddy, the Vista Guardian. The guy may be as stiff as they come, but Mac will do anything for company at this point. Plus, getting a rise out of him could be an interesting challenge...

This was inspired by this Mac vs. PC commercial. Stories about things that aren't traditionally, er, sentient, are always fun, and this is certainly no exception. It's funny as hell, incredibly dirty, and you can tell the writer really knows his/her operating systems. I don't normally enjoy PWP's, but I can't help but love this. *g*

Title: All the editions of you by dorcas_gustine
Fandom: Life on Mars
Pairing: Sam/Gene, Sam/Annie (kind of)
Categories: Angst, amnesia, established relationship
Length: Epic
Warnings: Character Death (kind of), AU from 2x03 but spoilers until the end of the series

Review:
Sam finally gets that transfer back to Hyde that he wanted from the beginning, Gene having forgotten that he'd even put in for it, but he isn't as eager to go as he thought he'd be.

This is a story in three parts; the author describes it as 'my infamous zombie!fic', so its a deathfic, but not really. And don't let the zombie description fool you into thinking its a horror either, apart from the usual kind of crazy you find in canon Life on Mars.

The author keeps the characters voices very close to true, and the way Sam and Gene avoid talking about things and yet still do in their round about way feels very true to the show. The sense of loss the characters feel when tragedy strikes is heartbreaking, but the way they all get on with things, their jobs especially, is again very similar to what we've seen occur on screen.

This fic made me cry and laugh, but most importantly provides some answers of the how and why Sam is in 1973 whilst leaving enough questions that you can imagine that the story and the characters continue beyond the final line.
