Review:
Tom and Janeway are stranded on an alien planet, looking for shelter from an incoming deadly storm. While there, they end up discussing Tom’s thirty days brig sentence after the events on Monea, and some unpleasant truths come to light.

The “stranded on an alien planet with imminent danger in sight” cliché is a staple of Trek fics and here it is used very effectively, combined with a high dosage of angst and some great character exploration. While I like Janeway, it’s undeniable that she has abused her authority to satisfy her own personal vendettas and crusades before (like in “Scorpion” and “Equinox”). Maisie does a great job of exploring that side of the Captain’s character, portraying Janeway as a very flawed individual without letting her become a one-dimensional villain. Tom is also very well written and the way his claustrophobia is handled gives us an interesting insight into his psych. All in all, this is a very interesting character-driven fic.
