Review:
Shawn Spencer returns to Santa Barbara ten years after a bomb intended for him killed his father and his best friend. Juliet O’Hara, now head detective of the SBPD, tries to reconnect with her old friend and in the process finds out what he has been doing for the past decade and manages to solve the case she is working on.

Considering that the show is a comedy, the “Psych” fandom has a strange tendency to come up with tragic stories. This is a beautiful example: haunted by the death of his father and of his best friend, Shawn launches into a one-man crusade against organized crime. He returns to Santa Barbara after ten years, yet the pain of his loss is still so strong he knows he cannot stay.

“A Whisper to the Living” comes alive through its impeccable characterization and its ability to make you believe that the story it tells is something that could happen if tragedy were to strike. A wonderful, moving fic.
