Title: The Matter of Rules Arc
Fandom: Pirates of the Caribbean
Pairing: Jack Sparrow/James Norrington, Will/Elizabeth, and a surprise (two minor characters)
Categories: first time, pre-slash, adventure, angst, humor, romance
Length: Epic [between the main stories, 115,000 words]

Review:
Sparrow and Norrington get to know each other. Eventually, as Will and Elizabeth prepare for their wedding, the Commodore becomes Jack's new goal. Amidst adventure, British Navy entanglements, a stop-over at old New Orleans, and battle, the affection becomes mutual.
It's too difficult to summarize what happens in this series. I'll just say that 1) it made Jack/James my OTP of snark and schmoop, 2) there was an absolutely wonderful background laid out for both main characters, 3) the minor characters - the crew of the Black Pearl and the British Navy officers - are terrifically written, and 4) the romance, anachronistic dance scene and all, was tremendous. I seriously have used this series to replace the second and third films in my personal canon.
