Spiffing up the community...

  • Oct. 18th, 2007 at 11:16 AM

Per request, I just modified all of the memories to indicate whether a story is gen (1), het (1), or slash (all the rest).  The only other community update request I had was to include tags for pairings.  Since I'm very, very strongly OTP oriented, that really is going to mean one tag per fandom.  Do ya'll think it will be worthwile to include pairing tags, or should I not bother.  Let me know!

Also, last chance to submit any requests for community changes.  After this week, this community will not get any major overhauls.

Thanks!

Since you post the pairings right there on the main profile pages, I'm thinking no.

Thanks! (I'm sorta hoping most folks agree with you -- that's a lot of tags to add:)

I'd say only add pairing tags if it's something other than your OTP. It doesn't make much sense (to me, at least) to have an "sga" tag and a "mckay/sheppard" tag because both tags have the same bunch of recs.

And I think the community is very spiffy as is. :)

With the exception of gen fic (and, maybe someday, an F/V story, if anyone points me in the direction of a good one), I can't imagine anything I'd rec outside of my OTP. And, honestly, a gen tag is usually the best way to keep people from reading a fic:) I'll ruminate on any other possible exceptions, though. Maybe something else will come up.

Glad you like the community as is (really glad, as I'd much rather spend time on writing recs than polishing the community:)

Aww, I like gen. And writing recs is much more productive (and fun!) than messing with fiddly, technical things. ;)

Excellent! It's nice to have someone appreciate the three gen stories I'll probably rec over the course of my life:)

Of course, even more fun than writing the recs is reading all of the fanfic first...

There are some shows you have made recs like Hikaru no Go and Samurai Champloo that I've never heard of or watched. Perhaps you could put a link to the show's intro page so someone like myself could go there and read about it. Otherwise your recs are great and I have used some in TS and SGA.

Hm. Would a link to crack_van's intro be helpful (if they have one), or would you rather see a link to a Wikipedia entry?

Thanks!
