Review:
A while ago [livejournal.com profile] cap_ironman issued a fairytale challenge, which produced a number of interesting fics. My absolute favorite was Elspethdixon’s re-telling of Hans Christian Andersen's "The Snow Queen." In it, a brave soldier goes on a journey through half the length of the world to find the smith who was taken from him.

Why do I love it so? First, because it’s incredibly well written, managing to keep the enchantment of the original fairytale without turning it into a mere thinly disguised copy. Secondly, because Elspeth managed to perfectly blend Marvel’s characters into the original story: members of the Avengers, the Howling Commandos and the Fantastic Four are present in delightful cameos. But the main reason is certainly Steve, who is truly the heart and soul of the story with his unwavering loyalty and love and unfaltering determination to be with Tony again.

Snow Queen.

Rated G though... I tend to not trust the G rating, as they are usually a bit too tame for my tastes.

I wouldn't call it tame, though there's really no sex/profanity/overt violence. It's a wonderful story, though, especially if you're familiar with Marvel's characters and get who everyone is supposed to be (I'll confess I cheated once or twice and looked at the comments...).
