Review:
Despite the fact that it's not usually mentioned when people name their favorite TOS episodes, "Operation Annihilate" is an episode that offers fanfic writers a wealth of plot possibilities and character development to explore. KCScribblings chose to dwell in the emotional aftermath of the Denevan tragedy by focusing on three of the characters most affected by it (Peter, Jim and Spock) and the way they deal with all that has happened.

This is such a beautifully written story about grief, loss and moving on. Through chess Spock manages to reach out to Peter and through Peter he manages to reach out to Jim. Without being melodramatic and with the support of great characterization, "Human Souls" shows perfectly why Kirk and Spock's friendship became legendary.
