Review:
When Welsh finds out that Turnbull is in an abusive relationship, he takes him home for safety purposes. It doesn't take long for them both to realize the potential for more.
I'm mostly reccing this fic because Turnbull doesn't get enough love and I just want to hug him to death. Ditto for Welsh (except, you know, I doubt he's a big hugging sort of guy). At the same time, I'm very impressed with the realism of Lucy's depictions of domestic violence and the way she avoids stereotypes. The details are sparse (for which I'm grateful), but accurately portray how an intelligent, physically powerful person could sink down into an increasingly abusive relationship. It's painful and hard to read at times, but it also happens every day. Thankfully, the bulk of the story is on Turnbull's efforts to leave his abuser and to move on with Welsh, both of which are enjoyable and quite satisfying.
While this story is uneven at times, all of the Turnbull/Welsh scenes are rock solid and very sweet (in a not very mushy sort of way). A must-read for Turnbull fans.
