Review:  
While rummaging through some of his parents’ belongings stored in a bank, Tony makes Pepper try on an antique ring that gets accidentally stuck on her finger. This leads to a rumor that they are engaged, which in turn seems to have a positive effect on Stark Industries. Thus, they decide to keep the farce up for a while, trying to minimize the eventual negative reactions to their “breakup”. But while Pepper sees it as a necessary arrangement to fool the media and protect the company’s interests, Tony decides he wants their relationship to be real.

I absolutely adore this fic. One of the reasons is the characterization, which is superb (Movie!Tony’s voice, in particular, is spot-on). The other is the fact that the author manages to balance it perfectly: there is just the right combination of fluff, angst and romance to make it an engaging story without becoming mushy trite or a messy drama. Hands down, this is my favorite Tony/Pepper fic.
