Warning, warning! Derth of DS fic/recs is imminent! (I just checked my fic files and I've got about six more DS recs before I'm tapped. There's got to be other really long DS fic out there I'm missing, so please, if you know of any DS fic/authors you haven't seen on this community, let me know where they are. I'm in need of a fresh Fraser fix. Thanks!)

This is one possible explanation for how Fraser and Ray's partnership went so awry in Season Three that they actually exchanged blows. Of course, seeing as this is fanfic, there was sex involved. And misunderstandings. And Fraser being emotionally distant. And Ray being, well, nuts. (Mainlining DS fic for the last week or so is giving me a nearly overwhelming urge to write Ray as exceedingly rational in my latest fic.) There are also plenty of trust issues, and the exploration of same is the reason I'm recommending this fic. Trust is a huge factor in season three, and it becomes even more critical in this fic, where Ray and Fraser are knocking boots every once in a while. Not to mention the Stella Issues. Seeing Fraser come to terms with the fact that maybe he *isn't* as trusting as he likes to think is reason enough to read this fic.

Anyway, what I'm really here for is to help! There is LOTS more wonderful, long DS fic to alert you to, though you've certainly listed a bunch of my favorites here, never fear, there is much, much more. You've only got the tip of the iceberg so far. :) And that's just F/K fic, which is mostly what I read and mostly what I'd steer you to. (I myself wrote a long--well, 21,000-word] F/K/V fic, but for the most part I stick to F/K.)
I can see you like AUs (so do I--but only in DS, oddly enough, and in DS I love them) and the long, plotty fics. Do you just want a long list of what's out there, with links? If you are more specific about your likes and dislikes, I can sort them, I suppose. What is your criterion for "long"? Novel-length, novella-length, anything over 20,000 words? And there's newer stuff, not just the "classics" that you've listed here.
At this point, I'm reading *everything*, because I've already read all of my DS fic a dozen times over and I'm desperate for fresh material. Part of the problem is that I'm not good at combing through LJ, so the only way I really have to find fic is to scour the DSA archive (which has now been thoroughly scoured). I've also been looking for good F/V fic, but Vecchio is a character with a bad reputation among fic authors (though I can't for the life of me understand why -- he's a fantastic character on the show), and so I've gotten leery of reading F/V fic without a rec.
I like AUs (though, amusingly, very few of my DS mainstays are AU -- my favorite genre in DS seems to be post-CotW fic) and I like long fic, but I do read shorter fic. My current guidelines for length are a little loose -- about the only one set in stone is that 'epic' means 250 KB or longer. I usually ballpark the other guidelines with: less than 2,000 words is 'short', if it can fit in a single LJ post it's medium (around 7,000 words or less than 100 KB), and if it can't fit in a single LJ post or is over 100 KB it's long. Urm, does that help.
Any information you want to give in your recs will be most appreciated, BTW, but what would be most helpful is a link to the fic, a link to the author's site (if applicable), and the author's LJ (also if applicable).
Thanks in advance for the recs!
"After the Nile" by joandarck (http://joandarck.greekedtext.org/AftertheNile.html)
and Here is a listing of all Joan's fic on her LJ; (http://joandarck.livejournal.com/154245.html) the top category are longer DS stories. I especially loved "History," "Seven Maids with Seven Mops," and "You Can't Take That Away from Me," but it's certainly possible I'm forgetting other favorites. I think there's a link to her new website on there, too, but only some of the fic is on the website right now. Oh, and Joan is an excellent writer, and I believe she's also written some F/V, which should be linked from that page. I'm not an F/V aficionada, but I'm sure anything of Joan's will at the very least be meticulously written, intelligent, thoughtful, and surprising.
Here's another really cool, newer, post-CoTW fic: "Across the Great Divide" by Isiscolo (http://hieroglyfics.net/greatdivide.htm) Angsty and riveting, with really authentic-feeling Arctic-travel details, but it never bogs down or loses its footing. Also, this is the type of story that some might consider putting warnings on, and I don't want to offer spoilers, but I will just reassure you that you can read this without fear.
You can find the rest of Isis' dueSouth fic Here (http://hieroglyfics.net/dsstories.htm).
Do you want me to post all links here for you or send you email? I'm thinking email might work better, and that way I'll avoid spamming this thread. More on the way. Plus I'll send you links to the rest of my fic, too, if you want it. Most are in the mid-to-long range. And more are on the way. Many of us are still writing DS all the time, so I don't imagine you will actually run out any time soon.
Feel free to e-mail anything and everything you can think of. I'm at janethunder at gmail dot com.
Thanks again!
And then I'll have nothing left. *sob*
