A Musical Interlude by Betsy R (G)

  • May. 19th, 2009 at 10:17 PM

At the behest of some of my fellow reccers, here is a P&P fic for Canon Pairings week.

Title: A Musical Interlude.
Fandom: Pride and Prejudice.

Pairing: Fitzwilliam Darcy/Elizabeth Bennet.

Categories: Fluff, Romance.

Length: Medium (~8000 words).

Warnings: None.

Author on LJ: n/a
Author Website: n/a

Review:
What would have happened between Darcy and Elizabeth if they hadn’t been blinded by pride and prejudice?
Elizabeth stumbles upon a lost Darcy as he arrives in Hertfordshire and their subsequent pleasant interaction makes their relationship start on a much better foot. Without serious doubts or misunderstandings standing in their way (combined with the convenient absence of Wickham), they reach an understanding much sooner (and with far less drama) than in the original novel.

While stories full of angst, misunderstandings and disappointments leading to a happy ending can be incredibly satisfying, sometimes you just want to read a happy, romantic piece of fluff. This story answers the need for that, providing a light, pleasant reading while still staying true to the characters.

A Musical Interlude.

I really enjoyed this story - thanks for reccing it! [In particular, I liked the rationale the author used for explaining why Elizabeth could be excellent at playing certain piano pieces, and merely fair at others, and how it tied into her canonical dislike for public performance.]

I'm glad you liked it! [That's one of my favorite parts as well.]
