Author’s Summary: Away at college, Clark learns to read between the lines and finds his future there.
Review:
Why should you read this? Because it has a dialogue-heavy sex scene that involves reciting poetry and somehow manages to make it hot, I kid you not.
Okay, if that’s not enough of a reason… This is actually a rather difficult story to review, because it needs to be experienced rather than written about. A large part of its appeal is the writing style – lyrical, full of unusual imagery, and just a little trippy. (If you’re a fan of beat poetry this is a must-read, no question). Plot-wise, it involves Clark having trouble with his paper for Lit class and enlisting Lex’s helping analyzing the poem. That may not sound terribly exciting, but it’s all about the romance and their coming together – there’s a little bit of secret revelation but that is actually a fairly minor issue.
Oh, just go give it a chance. It’s the only story that’s not only overcome my natural suspicion of poetry!fic but actually made me love it. It’s gorgeous, hot, fun, and refreshingly low on angst.
