Review:
Harry is a martyr. Everyone uses him. His life sucks. Love is evil. Fortunately for all, including the reader, Snape isn't about to put up with this self-pity nonsense.

First, a warning: if you are a huge fan of Draco and could never, ever see him as a bad guy, this fic is most definitely *not* for you.

That said -- I've actually been mostly reading H/D fic lately, mainly because the whole teacher/student thing doesn't work for me and I ended up reading too many Hogwarts-era Snarry fics in a row. Thankfully, Everybody's Fool did a good job of reminding me why I liked Snarry in the first place. Harry and Snape have great chemistry, Snape has a fabulous sense of humor, and Hogwarts (and its inhabitants) are usually significant players.

All of those are true in this fic, but what really thrills me is the plot: Harry and Snape are tasked with cleaning up Hogwarts's wards (which haven't had any maintenance in thousands of years) and in the process invent whole new forms of magic. Considering the canon, it's a shame that so few HP fics are focused on the idea of magic itself, which meant that I especially loved how this fic explored the development process Harry and Snape go through to make new wards. The magics themselves are interesting and intricate and their creation fascinating to read.

Finally you have Snape and Harry themselves -- their interactions are the highlights of all of the character relationships in this fic and when they're both in the same scene the story just flows.

A good fic for those who like a lot of magic in their Harry Potter fics (and who don't mind a bad, bad Draco).
