Review:
When Michael Garibaldi lands in MedLab, he's already overactive imagination gets pushed into overdrive. Suddenly, it's a world of gumshoes, stool-pigeons, doxies and dames, and it all started out as a nice little case of blackmail but after that ... it was murder...

While, admittedly, a good chunk of me is questioning whether I should label this a crack!fic – after all, the author does warn that it isn’t meant to be taken seriously – another part of me is quietly insisting ‘does it really matter?'. Written in classic noir fashion, The Deep Sleep and it’s follow-up, The Dark Curtain, are stories that you can really sink your teeth into. Filled with fabulous one-liners, pithy zingers, and the kind of mystery you usually find in hardboiled detective novels, Laurie M does a brilliant job of capturing the Babylon 5 characters in this altered setting and carefully mirroring them so nothing is lost.

All in all, I’d say that, much like Garibaldi, these stories are a great way to escape reality and relax into a good mystery.
