This week it's once again Small Fandom week over at
epic_recs. Since we had a Small Fandom RR post back in January (and two others before that), we are doing something different this time around.
Last year,
jane_elliot posted a RR post around her birthday asking for recs of some of her favorite things. This year all the reccers will be celebrating their respective birthday's by asking the readers for recs for some of their favorite genres/fandoms/pairings.
My actual birthday was a couple of months ago, so we shall be celebrating it a little late this time around. I’d love to find:
Fics where someone's secret identity is revealed: I love a good revelation story. Any stories where someone (a superhero, a villain, a secret agent) reveals his/her secret identity (intentionally, by accident, under duress) or is unmasked are welcome, but bonus points if it features a romance between the two main characters.
Fics based on Costume Dramas and/or their original sources: I've managed to find a great deal of Pride and Prejudice fics, but I have a hard time finding fics based on other great books and/or their adaptations. Fanfics based on the work of the Brontë sisters (like Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre, Shirley), Charles Dickens (David Copperfied, Great Expectations), Wilkie Collins (The Woman in White, The Moonstone), Elizabeth Gaskell (North and South, Wives and Daughters) and any other writers of the Regency/Victorian periods would be much appreciated. Any recs for Jane Austen fics (especially for those based on non-P&P novels) are also welcome.
Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z and Yu Yu Hakusho fics: These were the fandoms that got me to read fanfiction in the first place, over a decade ago. Nowadays, I am appalled to see what I considered to be good stories (I can't even managed to re-read fics that I used to consider particular favorites). I know there must be some good fics for these fandoms somewhere, but I have yet to find them. Help?
Things to keep in mind:
-Recced stories can be any length, any fandom, and any pairing, as long as they fit the theme.
-You don't need to write a review (unless you want to). All that you need to include are title, author, and link to the story (all parts if there are more than one).
Thanks in advance for any recs you decide to share!
