Title: Someone You Might Have Been
Fandom: SPN RPS
Pairing: Jared/Jensen
Categories: AU, angst, action/adventure
Length: totally epic
Warnings: dark themes, violence, torture, dub-con, mindfuck, dubious characters

Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] fleshflutter
Website: n/a

Author's Summary: Jared's a secret agent, Jensen's his handler.

Review:
I promised to deliver a rec for a not-too-dark Fleshflutter fic last week, well, this is it. OK, I admit it's not made of fluff, but hey, there is a happy ending that makes all the physical and psychological torture worth it, IMHO.

Jared, top secret agent (think James Bond and Jason Borne but better), has no problems separating sex from his job. Until he meets his new handler. And things just go from bad to worse from there.

The plot turns very angsty from about one-third way into the story. Just when you think you cannot take one more mindfuck, the author whacks you on the head with something else. Just remember, perseverance is the key to success, or in this case, the ultimate happy ending you've waiting for.

I personally felt the story was perfect without the epilogue, and if you are like me, simply resist clicking the link at the end of the last chapter. The rest of you weaklings, go on and you will be rewarded for all you've suffered through.

So I think that next year I'm going to institute a rule where dark week is followed by fluffy week. Because I think that is a totally acceptable abuse of my power:)

Oh, this is totally a not-too-dark Fleshflutter fic. With a fluffy happy ending. What else could you possibly want? ;p

See, but when SG posts a story with a suicide warning and then you post a story with a dark themes warning, both right after dark fic theme week, I get paranoid. Also grumpy.

(Even if maybe I did download one of the stories from dark theme week. Ahem.)

Of course, the upshot is that I've been reading some of the more obscure fics in my to-read folder. And I think I have a bonus rec for rare pairings theme week! Yay!

Jensen and Jared are spies in this one. Of course BAD things happen. ;p
Incidentally, my dark fic folder is filling up again. Hm...

Yay to rare pairings. Which fandom?

Prince of Tennis. And since my entire knowledge of the fandom consists of this one fic, I can't swear beyond all doubt that the pairing is a rare one, but I've heard that it is. (Also it's a series of fics, of which I really only want to rec a two stories. From the middle. And they don't stand alone. So I have some thinking to do about how to manage this.)

Since I still haven't gotten over my anime aversion I don't think I'll be reading this one :(

Fair enough. I doubt I'll be getting over my aversion to death fic/dark fic/non-con/chan/BDSM/eight million other issues anytime soon:)

Re: I personally felt the story was perfect without the epilogue
Oh well, I suppose we could all use some fluff from time to time. :)
Thanks.

Sorry if this is kind of random but I was wondering if you might have a copy/pdf of the fic since the author has deleted her journal?

Thanks.
