While Iruka is recuperating in the hospital from Mizuki’s attack (and thus very high on painkillers), Kakashi comes by to see him to learn a bit more about Naruto. Joined in their concern and affection for the genin (expressed in very different ways), Kakashi and Iruka develop a friendship that slowly deepens into a romance, all the while trying to survive Naruto’s culinary attempts.

“How To File Form 39-B” is one of the classic fics for the Kakashi/Iruka pairing and with good reason. The Hoyden does a fantastic job of capturing the relationship between the characters: not only the developing romantic one between Kakashi and Iruka, but also the familial one between Naruto and Iruka (and by extent Kakashi). A definite must read.
