RR -- Harlequin!

To help celebrate Valentine's Day (or, as I personally think of it, Half-Priced Candy Day on the 15th), we're having a Harlequin Theme Week here at ER! Since Harlequin AUs cover pretty much every one of my favorite genres (marriage of convenience! homeless fic! broken canon pairings where the bad guy is reformed! fluffy plots that would totally work as a Hollywood romantic comedy!) I'm very excited about this week in general and the recs ya'll have for us in particular. Set four years after the episode "Obscura", this entire story revolves around the growing relationship between Whitney Fordman and his benefactor, Lionel Luthor. Despite the fact that the sequel seems to floating in dead water, the first story between Lionel and Whitney is finished. It's well worth the read, especially since Lionel is still in character (i.e. rampaging asshole to most people) but still manages to fall in love with Whitney (despite his best efforts not to).
(Serious, does the first story stand alone and have a happy ending? If so, I really will give it a read. Thanks!)
