Absolute Corruption by Cypher (NC-17)

  • Feb. 4th, 2009 at 2:40 PM
In response to our feedback post, we had a request for twice-daily recs. After quite a bit of discussion amongst the reccers, we decided that while we can't guarantee two recs a day (burnout ahoy!), we all really like to the idea of doing two recs a day when we can. Thus expect to see more bonus recs in the future!

Title: Absolute Corruption
Fandom: SGA and SG-1
Pairing: McKay/Sheppard
Categories: angst, AU, slave!fic (sorta)
Length: long
Warnings: n/a

Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] seikaitsukimizu
Website: n/a

Review:
Somehow (I think the explanation is based on an SG-1 episode I don't remember), Daniel turns evil and takes over the world. Rodney survives the initial slaughter, thanks to his brains, and is forced to develop alien weaponry for Daniel. As a reward, Daniel gives Rodney a pet, i.e., a battered and broken John Sheppard.

I'm getting wussier as I get older and hardcore slave!fic is just too much for me these days. Slave!fic lite, however, is adored, and Absolute Corruption fits the bill. Mix in some revolutionary plotting by McKay, some smut, and some great cameo appearances by Ford and Carson (the latter entirely off-stage and *still* awesome) and you have a tasty morsel of plotty angst to satisfy your whumpage cravings.

Absolute Corruption (pt. 1) (pt. 1)
Sequel: Terra Atlantis

Hee! No promises as to how often we get twice daily recs, though I plan on posting at least one or two bonus recs a week. Except for theme weeks, because it appears I don't actually do a very good job of reccing to a theme these days...

Thank you for posting the first "twice-daily" rec :)

I didn't even know that this story had a sequel!

As I recall it's a rather short sequel and not particularly amazing, but it wasn't bad either (which is why I didn't specifically *not* rec it:)

And you're very welcome for the double rec!

Oooh, slave!fic lite is my favorite! I read the hard core stuff sometimes, but it always leaves me freaked out for months afterward. I've got to stop doing that ...

Yeah, I can't do serious slave fic anymore -- if it comes with a rape warning, I steer *very* clear...

Gah. Yeah, because unfortunately I've read more than a few where the slave/victim "falls in love" with his master/rapist. Argh.

Hee! Tell the truth--it's really just an excuse to clear out your backlog of fics to rec, isn't it? ;-)

And yes, the premise stems from the SG-1 episode Absolute Power, in which Daniel is given all the knowledge of the goa'uld, and becomes Evil!Dr. Jackson and totally works the khakis, and flirts with Jack like whoa.

Well, I can't deny that I wouldn't mind making some headway through the *300+ files* in my possible rec folder. Though I'll also get a chance to clear out a few more recs when we hit 500 readers (which should happen any day now...)

Ah-ha! I knew it had to be based on something. The problem is, after 10 seasons of SG-1 (and yes, I watched every. Single. One. Even the last one, though I did a lot of housework while it was on), the episodes all sort of blend together or evaporated out of my head. Except for that one where Daniel Jackson meets the evil-looking but actually rather nice alien that he splits power bars with which shows up in syndicated reruns five times more than any other episode. I don't think I'll ever be able to forget that one.

(The final SG-1 ep Does Not Exist in my personal canon. *eye spork*)

Ooo, The First Ones! "Don't say Kah 'til you've tried it." Hee! I love that one. (See icon. :-)

Absolute Power is such a classic, I have a rec list solely for that ep (http://green-grrl.livejournal.com/41977.html) :D

Glad you enjoyed it!

We hope to have as many bonus recs as possible, but it definitely won't be an every day thing. Still, it should be fun to see what everyone comes up with:)
