Review:
If you haven't heard of 'Once a Thief', it's hardly surprising as it only lasted a total of one season before being given the chop. Based on a movie by the same name (and with the same cast), the movie and series was a sometimes fun, sometimes serious, mostly cheesy romp in the world of espionage and super secret crime-fighting in Canada. Despite how silly this might sound, the show and movie really worked, especially when you consider that the main characters Li Ann Tsei and Mac Ramsey, both former members of the ruthless Tang crime family, and Victor Mansfield, a former cop, were all in one big love triangle that just wouldn't quit.

Pretty Baby is an alternate universe exploration of if Victor had met Mac while he was still a vice cop and Mac was still a thief and very much a part of the notorious Tang crime family. Without the tug-of-war presence of Li Ann, who they both believe they're in love with, it's easy to see how Victor and Mac could have just as easily fallen in love with each other. I think that's why I enjoy this series so much. It works, plain and simple, and while I admit I waffled a bit about reccing this due to (I'm embarrassed to admit) the amount of sex being had by all (which is to say, a ridiculous amount), it still ranks up their as one of my favorite 'Once a Thief' stories.
