Review:
What appears to be a fossilized clawed hand is found in the Amazon. It leads scientist David Reed on a journey that uncovers something, and someone, he buried in his subconscious years before.
As a big classic movie fan, this fic was nearly impossible for me to pass-up. Featuring a small smattering of dialog from the film and a pretty unheard of pairing, I was surprised and delighted with how well it worked and how well the author managed to re-tell the story without it losing its original appeal. Though I have to admit I wasn’t completely enchanted with the whole mpreg aspect of the fic , I was intrigued by how Tinnean managed to get these two together and thread the impact of their inevitable romance throughout David’s life, even when he wasn't aware of it.
All in all, if you’re willing to take this fic for what it is, a not too serious romp in the lagoon, you’ll definitely enjoy it, fins and all.

Erik happens upon a seemingly abandoned mansion in Westchester during a full moon and finds an insanely clueless werewolf living in isolation.
There’s been an absolute explosion of good fic popping up in this fandom lately, partly due to the number of really excellent prompts given out in its kink memes. Written for a ‘everyone-is-a-werewolf’ AU prompt, manic_intent has done a superb job of world-building without getting bogged down in, what could have been, a truly epic amount of werewolf-mythology and rhetoric – a feat in and of itself. Instead, the focus is firmly on Erik and Charles, and their
I have to say that I really love both Charles and Erik’s characterization in this fic. This is to say, they’re both in character, but with the added bonus of being werewolves. A fact that is as much as a surprise to Charles, who thought he was completely alone, as it is a mild annoyance to Erik, who “doesn’t have time” to be teaching a clueless werewolf the ropes.
In the end, even though this is tagged as the first part of a larger series (a fact I didn’t realize when I first started reading it), it still reads as a terrific stand alone, one that is complete in and of itself, and can only be enhanced with any future installments.

Review:
At first Alec doesn’t notice that anything’s different. Yes, he’s getting more attention from the males around him than he used to, but he’s an attractive guy—it’s not that far out of the norm. It’s not until he’s being hauled away by Ames White that he really starts to worry. Especially since Ames smells good enough to eat.
The author claims to not care for the tropes of mpreg, which is really intriguing considering the fact that this was probably the best mpreg story I’ve yet come across. Admittedly, Dark Angel lends itself to mpreg more than most fandoms from the simple fact that the transgenics’ bodies have been modified to such an extent. But everything—from the pairing to the fight scenes to the miscarriage—was written with an original flair.
The choice of using not only Alec and Ames POVs but also including Max’s was insightful and well-written. Generally I’m not a fan of action-heavy fic, but this is one fandom where an author can hardly escape the action. It was well-handled here, always used to forward the plot and eventually added something to the climax. Really, this was an unexpectedly good story with a rather sweet ending considering the fandom.

I really like Dayspring's take on Lex. He's not above saving the world or making evil plans to destroy Batman. He'll do anything for the people he cares about.
Clark on the other hand comes off as a bit wishy-washy and overly naive, though sympathetic.
The pregnancy itself is less believable than I would have preferred, since Dayspring skips a lot of the emotional and physical upheaval. The plus side this is that it keeps the story from becoming angsty and melodramatic.
The Plot is straightforward and uncomplicated. The writing is unpretentious and direct without losing Dayspring's uniquely dry and sarcastic humor. It's an easy and enjoyable read.
