Review:
How would the Lord of the Rings gone if Frodo was replaced in his quest by his adopted cousin, Clark? The answer is in the story's subtitle: aka How to Make a Really Long Story Short.

Hee! This is just plain fun all around. You've got Clark, who keeps trying to wrap up this whole quest post-haste, while Gandalf is too busy ordering him around to pay attention. Meanwhile, the poor Black Riders are having a *very* bad week, Aragorn is terribly frustrated by the way the hobbits keep rescuing themselves, and Lex Luthor pops up every once in a while to sex the place up (I gave this fic the PG-13 rating mainly for Lex's endless innuendo). A good story if you're looking for a laugh.

Title:  Rainy Night
Fandom:  Saiyuki
Pairing:  Homura is gay for Sanzo Konzen Douji, but it's just played for laughs
Categories:  Humor, parody
Length:  Medium [~7,000 words]

Review:  "Involving a rainy night and an inn with too many visitors, set somewhere in the second series of the anime.  Nobody gets to bathe in peace."  Homura ditches his cohort to look for Konzen Douji, but he manages to bump into nearly everyone else instead - including Kougaiji's gang - in a inn that boasts of its baths.  What follows is a classic house-chase, complete with clothes-swapping and mistaken identity.

Bonus rec!  Bwahahah, poor hapless Homura.  Extra points for Sanzo's aggressive take on relaxation.  Extra extra points for Hakkai's clever hiding spot for the sutra.

Title: the Fabulousman series
Fandom: From Eroica With Love
Pairing: Klaus/Dorian
Categories: Action, Crack, Humor, Pre-slash, and (depending on your opinion) parody and AU
Length: Medium [between all the drabbles written pre-January, ~12,000 words. But there's more now!]
Warnings: None

Website: Belladonna

Summary: Meteors crash into Earth, and whoever gets hit gains amazing superpowers. Of course, when Eroica is hit, Hilarity Ensues.

Review: If you know Eroica, then you need no further encouragement. If you don't... hmmm. From Eroica With Love is/was a manga series written & drawn in the height of the Cold War, featuring a gay-and-proud-of-it aristocratic British thief [Dorian of Gloria, alias Eroica] and a grumpy aristocratic West German NATO Intelligence Major [Klaus Heinz von dem Eberbach]. Hey, they're both aristocrats - so much in common already! Er, not really. Eroica irritates Klaus to hell and back, and Klaus constantly threatens and/or punches Eroica. They are sometimes rivals ("who will get the classified reports first?") and sometimes working together, by order or because the Russians are their mutual enemy. Within a few volumes, Eroica professes his love for Klaus, and he gets shot down - then, and every other time. The fandom tends to think that the Major doth protest too much. Those (few) fans who aren't looking for Ho-Yay can still enjoy the series as a light-hearted spy comedy.

In Fabulousman, the aforementioned meteors happen, and those with powers band together. Major Eberbach is unwillingly made a part of the new "good" superheroes' group. Not having been struck, he has no powers, but that never stopped Klaus from kicking ass before, and he tends to think the heroes are incompetant civilians, anyway. Dorian has the broadest range of powers in the group, and is thus one of the leaders... but that doesn't make him any better at catching Klaus' attention. At least, not for a while. But they do get to do some wacky crimefighting in the meantime! There are some serious moments, but most of the stories are just good fun. {My personal favorite drabble? The one about getting Klaus a hero name.} As a plus, there are many illustrations, too.

Slave Bear Of Care-A-Lot by Tami (NC-17)

So I'd planned on either Disney's Beauty and the Beast or Newsies as my second rec, but as I'm going to have more than one rec in both of those fandoms, neither one seemed small enough for Teeny, Tiny Fandom Week. Thus... this. *facepalm*

Title: Slave Bear Of Care-A-Lot
Fandom: Care Bears
Pairing: Grumpy Bear/everyone
Categories: humor, BDSM, crack!fic, uh... parody?  Of everything?
Length: medium
Warnings: EVERYTHING

Author on LJ: n/a
Website: n/a

Review:
One day, the most horrible thing possible in care bear land (or, uh, whatever it's called) happens: Grumpy Bear wakes up and doesn't care anymore. When the usual methods to snap him out of it (pep talks, caring visits, etc) fail, the care bears decide to do something a little more extreme. Like a rape orgy.

Um... Okay, this is going to take a bit of explaining.

A while back, Mei pointed me in the direction of a discussion of the difference between non-con and rape in fanfiction. Apparently rape is 'true' rape (i.e., violent and horrible) and non-con is 'fantasy' rape (i.e., non-consensual sex written as erotica, usually between characters that really do want to have sex but not necessarily under the given circumstances. Think 'aliens made them do it'). My personal opinion is that unwanted sex is rape and wanted sex is not, though we have an advantage in fiction that we don't have in real life, namely that we can see what a character truly wants without having to have verbal confirmation of that desire.

This fic is most definitely 'non-con' rather than 'rape'. All of the sex is completely without consent, but there is implied caring under it all, no one is harmed (not to say no one is hurt), and in the end Grumpy is a very happy bear. (God, I can't believe I'm writing this. Fandom is a strange, strange place.)

That said, you all know that I virtually never rec rape or non-con fic. So why this one? Frankly, it's because I can't get the damn story out of my head. Reading it is like driving past a serious, non-fatal car accident -- disturbing but fascinating. Is it because it involves iconic children's characters? Because of the bizare notion of a caring rape orgy? Because it's just plain wrong? I just don't know. All I do know is that it is hypnotic and completely unforgettable.

Just to be clear, this fic will not appeal to everyone. There is rape. There is bondage. There is S&M. There is humiliation and multiple partners and unprotected sex. There is a complete and utter desecration of a minor cultural icon. Just about the only warnings that don't apply are mpreg and character death. You will probably want to scrub your brain out with bleach when you finish the story.

In other words, read at your own risk.

Slave Bear of Care-A-Lot

And now I will go and try to forget I ever posted this...

There is a complete and utter desecration of a minor cultural icon. Just about the only warnings that don't apply are mpreg and character death. You will probably want to scrub your brain out with bleach when you finish the story.

In other words, read at your own risk.
