Review:
After realizing that Nathan doesn't really get paid for all of the healing he does, the gang gets together to show their gratitude.

This is just lovely. When you think about it, Nathan does work the hardest of any of the seven, and (according to fanon, at least) he doesn't get paid for all of the healing he does on the side. To see that acknowledged as well as all of the perfectly in-character gifts and kindnesses from the rest of the seven is very satisfying and more than a little sweet. A fic that is all about friendship, in the best possible way.

Review:
Sarah and Adam are still alive and the town of Four Corners is currently being guarded by six lawmen when a stranger saves Chris's family from gunmen. Even as Sarah and Nathan patch Vin up (entirely against his will), the question remains: who is this mysterious Vin and why is he working so hard to make sure to keep his past hidden?

I love hurt/comfort stories that are more comfort than hurt (though, if you ask Vin, the comforting is a hell of a lot more irritating than the hurting) and I'm also a huge sucker for AU origin stories. This story satisfies on both counts, with Vin healing (slowly, since he keeps ripping out his damn stitches) and the Not To Shabby Six turn into the Magnificent Seven.

The characterization is where this story really shines, especially with Sarah and Vin and, most significantly, Sarah *and* Vin. The dialogue between the two of them sparkles, and every scene referencing the two of them pops. The rest of the crew is excellent as well, with everyone acting in character, even though that inherently prevents the story from being all sunshine and roses.

If you're a fan of strong female characters and/or Vin, this is definitely a fic for you.

Review:
In Tea and Sympathy, Nathan, Mary, and eventually Ezra share a quiet cup of tea and some gossip for the Clarion. J Brooks provides some very potent backstory for Nathan (that man needs a hug, *stat*) and a lovely sense of friendship and comradery among the three characters. A beautiful vignette.

In Inkslingers, an injured Mary is unable to publish the anniversary edition to her paper and Chris agrees that the Seven will do the job in her place. Madcap adventures ensue, as Ezra and Nathan manage to get themselves kidnapped by a man who wants them to write his obituary (even though he isn't dead yet), Chris essentially blackmails every business in town into advertising, Josiah and JD learn that old-school printing presses are a nightmare and a half, Buck conflates every minor story to the point of terror, and Vin saves the day with his catchy way with headlines. Every one of the Seven plays a significant role in this fic and every one is well drawn and perfectly in character. A hilarious, engrossing story.

Title: Deadly Angel
Fandom: Magnificent Seven

Length: Epic (67,000)

Review: Deadly Angel takes place in an alternate future where crime is government sanctioned, homosexuality is considered the ultimate perversion, and Sentinels and Guides are forced to work for the government. This story is a fusion between the Sentinel and Magnificent Seven, though the Sentinel characters never appear in the story

Susan Foster is probably best known for her Sentinel stories particularly the GDP verse. The Deadly Angel series was the second Magnificent Seven story she wrote and its still one of my favorites. I find myself returning to it whenever I want to read a smutty story with a good dash of hurt/comfort and a happy ending.

This is not to say that Deadly Angel is without some squicky parts. There is a number of mentions of past murder, prostitution, and rape. Fortunately, Susan Foster only described one incidence of abuse in moderate detail, which keeps the story from being completely over the top.
