Author's Summary:
"Post-mission confessions of SGA-1."
Review:
Following a gift from Jeannie and a suggestion from Heightmeyer, the members of SGA-1 write confessions in a postcard after every mission and place them in a box, from where the other members of the team will take a card out one at a time.
I've heard some people say that they are not very fond of Gen fics because they find they are less invested in the story if there's no romantic relationship to give it a greater emotional impact. To me, however, fics like "Pandora's Box" show that while the relationship between characters is important in a story, it does not have to be romantic to affect the reader emotionally.
Despite the fact that is a rather short fic, it has a lot going for it. I loved the format, with the short paragraphs interconnected by the sparse but deeply meaningful postcards. I loved the cards themselves and how many of the images connect so wonderfully with the story that is being told. I loved the characterization, as Ronon, Teyla, Rodney and John are amazingly well portrayed in the story, as is the friendship and connection between them. Above all else, I loved how the author perfectly handled the intimacy and trust of the confessions being written and read.
