My friends and I will be watching “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” later this week, so I thought it was a good moment to share my favorite Logan-centric fic.

Review:
After going off in search of his past, Logan keeps returning to the Mansion, drawn by his feelings of protectiveness towards Marie and becoming increasingly frustrated when he realizes her life no longer revolves solely around him. As time passes, he becomes attracted to her and finally realizes what should have been obvious long before: he is in love with her. He is determined to change their relationship, but the best-laid plans of mutants and men often go awry…

This story is a remix of Victoria P.’s story The Best-Laid Plans. The original fic, told from Marie’s point of view, is very enjoyable and also worth reading. There is one thing, however, that makes the remix stand out as absolutely fantastic: the fact that is told from a wonderfully written Logan’s perspective. It is fascinating to see things from inside his head: how seriously he takes his work for Xavier, what he really thinks about Scott (and how frustrated he is that he and Rogue got close), why he flirts with Jean and how he realizes how he truly feels about Marie. He ranges from being frustratingly oblivious, to endearingly sweet to extremely manipulative, all the while being incredibly entertaining.
