Review:
According to the papers, there's a band of communists running about London abducting gentlemen. Bertie gets worried until Jeeves reassures him that the stories are a load of nonsense. Which, of course, is when Bertie himself gets abducted.

Wow. This may be the darkest J&W fic I've ever read (keeping in mind that I tend to avoid any fic labelled as dark) and it skirts the line between too much hurt and not enough comfort. That said, it is really nice to read a J&W fic that isn't 99.5% fluff, and while Bertie's trials and tribulations are unpleasant, they really are pretty mild compared to the hurt in other fandoms (*cough*smallville*cough*). And once Jeeves enters the picture, all is well again.

Interesting, dramatic, and at times very sweet, this is a fic worth reading not only for the great writing and characterizations, but also for a unique plot in a fandom that is most definitely not known for its originality.  (Admittedly, that is not a bad thing -- J&W canon takes the concept of 'formula writing' to a whole new level.  Still, it's nice to have something new once in a while.)
