Author's Summary: Written for the VOLA 12 Slashy Days of Christmas challenge. Prompt: “Rings Reunion Christmas Party” Is there such a thing as second chances? Set approximately 20 years after filming.

Review:
Orlando and Viggo meet again 20 years after filming The Lord of the Rings, both older but perhaps not much wiser, and despite how badly their previous 'non-relationship' ended, they are drawn to each other.

One of the best relationship stories I've read! I love first-time stories where the story ends with our two main characters finally getting together (after much trials and tribulation, of course), but sometimes I can't help wondering: what happens now? Often, being absolutely right for each other is not enough to sustain a long-term relationship. Even 'true love' requires lots of care and nourishment for it to flourish and bloom year after year. And this is exactly what the story tries to tell us. Both Orlando and Viggo are at the low points of their lives when they first see each other again, but with love and help from each other (*major h/c!*), they regain their health and happiness.

It's hard to believe this is the author's first story because the writing is just sublime (despite a few glitches and typos--the author could probably use a second beta), and the pacing absolutely perfect. Karen managed to focus on the details of everyday life without turning the story into a soap opera. There are a few scene another writer might have dealt with differently, but the way Karen handled them (e.g. the wedding) transformed Reasons into a completely different kind of fiction that is rarely seen in fandom. A truly wonderful story. Highly recommended.
