Through reasons you probably aren't really going to care about, Jayne gets himself turned into a zombie. Yes, really. And it is awesome.

The problem I find with zombie!fic in general is that it never lives up to its hype, so I'm delighted to say that this fic breaks that trend by being even *better* than its hype. Firefly is a hard fandom to write in: Chinese swearing, Buffy-meets-Old-West dialogue, and, well, *River* usually combine to sink even the best fanfic authors. Shrift, however, handles all three with aplomb, and I can't even describe the wonder that is zombie!Jayne. Let's just say that it takes a talented author to make me want to hug a zombie, especially since he's currently cuddling his pet gun to his chest (whee!). Highly recommended to anyone with even a passing interest in zombies or Firefly or, you know, humor.
