I had planned on holding off on my Samurai Champloo recs until I was tapped by crack_van, but that could take forever and my Hikaru no Go recs were getting lonely.

Review:
I'm always amazed at how much Mugen/Fuu fic there is out there, because I could never imagine any relationship between the two of them (except, possibly, a few weeks of meaningless sex, which isn't my cup of tea). Jin/Fuu, on the other hand, makes total sense to me and is easily my favorite pairing in this fandom outside of my OT3. 

"As Lovers Go" is a beautiful Jin/Fuu romance that develops over time, allowing Jin to loosen up a little and Fuu to grow up a lot and, just as important, acknowledges the huge and continuing impact that Mugen has on both of their lives. It starts as the boys are healing during the end of the series and continues on for several years after as Fuu settles down and Mugen and Jin visit her. It's a quiet story and takes a couple of parts to draw you in, but once you're hooked the story weaves a lovely, elegant world of love and promises and honesty. A lush, gorgeous story.
