Review:
I may be stretching the definition of 'canon' with this rec, because Community does not so much "'ship tease" as "'ship cockblock". They seem to enjoy raising the hopes of a thousand fervent shippers on high (see: 1.25 "Pascal's Triangle Revisited") , and then dashing them soundly against the jagged rocks of parody (see: 2.21 "Paradigms of Human Memory"). But anyhow, enough of my feeble rationalizations! Onto the rec!
This is vintage season 1 fic, and I love how self-confidant and 'reasonable' Annie comes off in this. The dialog (both inner and outer) and banter in the fic are spot-on, and I loved how even in fanfic, Abed continues to break the fourth wall without a blink of an eye. I don't read a lot of Community fanfic (my tolerance for breaking the show/fandom fourth wall is used up just by watching the show, most days), but this is one of my favorites so far.
Note: The author warns for Britta OOC, but I think that it's not actually all that bad, given what I know about the character. And I can forgive a lot for good writing :)
“MR. ROCHESTER IS EVERYTHING THAT’S WRONG WITH HUMANITY.”
“I thought that was Grey’s Anatomy,” Shirley says.
“They’re both everything that’s wrong with humanity,” Britta fumes. “Hell, he can be McLocksHisWifeInTheAtticAndThenLiesAboutItToHisWayTooYoungGirlfriendOfInferiorSocialStanding.”
“Dude,” Troy says, “spoiler alert.”
“It’s his wife in the attic??” Pierce asks, dismayed.
“This vein of humour is abnormally literary,” Abed observes. “Like, if our lives were a TV show, or maybe fanfiction about a TV show, this would be written by an English major
