Summary:
Bitty comes out to Johnson in the Haus kitchen after baking four pies in a row. Bitty bakes when he’s nervous, but he also bakes when he’s happy, when he’s tired, when he’s irritated, and when it’s Tuesday, so it’s hard to draw conclusions. Unless you peeked ahead to the last panel first to check for cliffhangers, but Johnson would never do that.
Review:
Another Check, Please! rec? You bet! So if you haven't read it yet, you better hie your hiney on over, because it's the best thing since standardized time measurement.
I love Johnson the Metaphysical Goalie. I just love the imaginary stuffing out of him, because I never knew tampering with the fourth wall could be taken to such extremes with such grace and skill. Johnson takes the term 'genre savvy' and turns it on its head, because Johnson isn't just savvy, he's enlightened, the Buddha of fictional characters, perfectly cognizant to what he is and why he exists.
jedusaur writes Johnson with a clearly palpable glee, letting him converse with the reader within the context of his and Bitty's chats. Bitty is, quite understandably, thoroughly confused, which is a pretty standard canon reaction from the characters when confronted by Johnson's.... Johnson-ness. But the reader just grins and nods along, nudge and wink, because Johnson isn't just a character in a webcomic. He's us.
