Summary:Once upon a time, an angel with the unlikely name of Pepper came to the circus, and took Clint away.
Review: This is a mildly steampunk AU. I'm saying mildly, because the Steampunk is more implied, than expressly stated. Particularly because this is a regency AU, where it's hard to tell if the whole world is steampunk, or if it's just Tony's brand of crazy.
Clint is a boy who lives and works in the circus. He's badly abused (See Warnings), until one night he is rescued by Pepper and Tony. He then returns to Pepper and Tony's Manor, where the rest of the story takes place.
Through his eyes you get to see, various members of the Marvel Movie Universe, including Bruce the cook, and Natasha the invisible security guard.
What is most impressive though, is Arsenic's ability to keep themselves limited to using only Clint's tight perspective. Which lends an air of whimsy and sweetness, to this somewhat dark tale of a hurt little boy.
That being said, please don't ignore the warnings. They are there for a reason.
