Summary: "You were wrong," says Rush, flatly. "I may have been a little bit wrong, you -- you rat bastard, but you left me alive. You didn't even kill me." And with this he tenses again, struggling, struggling to hit Young again or to stop himself from hitting Young again, he can't tell, he doesn't know.

"I know," says Young. "Rush," and Rush is this close to breaking, he's on the verge of collapsing entirely, "I know."

Review: First off, you should know that I will rarely (if ever) rec a PWP fic since I’m not a fan of them. Secondly, this fic is not your typical sex-pollen fic-- oh no, it’s much more. In fact, in the immediate aftermath of episode 10 (Justice), the pollen serves to do nothing more than push them both to their breaking point and force a confrontation. It’s violent, angry, broken, and real. You can feel Rush’s pain and fear (and how that translates into rage through body language) as well as Young’s anger and remorse.

Normally, I’d give a more detailed review, but because the fic is so short, I don’t want to spoil it. Instead, let me tell you that I’m not shy about the fact that I’m not a big fan of Stargate: Universe. In fact, the only reason I watched it (and I never did finish the second season) was because of Rush (I can’t help but be drawn to someone so broken) and his occasional interactions with Young. So, I suppose it shouldn’t come as a surprise that I’d rec the occasional SGU fic-- granted, this is the only writer I’ll rec them from.

When Cerebel writes Young/Rush, there’s practically a guarantee that the fic with be delightfully full of angst and delicious tension. She gives reason to their actions from canon (which sometimes didn’t appear to even make sense) and makes you sympathetic to both of their plights.
