Mal is temporarily blinded on a mission and spends several weeks in the infirmary. With Simon. Yum.

This is pure hurt/comfort fluff (insofar as you can have comfort or fluff in the Firefly universe; i.e., you can have it, but it's very snarky). The twist of Mal's blindness is what makes it special -- the story is mostly dialogue, with very few visual clues (the occasional slip up) to give the dialogue additional meaning. Firefly is a great fandom for this, since all of the characters have such distinct voices and BlackEyedGirl does a brilliant job with all of them. Wash and Zoe are especially good, and River is just odd enough to be River, but not so odd that she gets annoying. Over all a great fic to read when you're in the mood for sparkling dialogue mixed in with a bit of fluff.
