Title: Interview with Superman
Fandom: Superman
Pairing: Gen (Superman and Jimmy Olsen)
Categories: AU
Length: Medium (4,500)
Warnings: religious concepts
Author on LJ:n/a
Website: Layla's WWOMB site
Summary: Journalist Jimmy Olsen is offered an exclusive, in-depth interview of Superman, and readers catch glimpses into the inner workings and sophisticated worldview of the mighty Man of Steel.
Review: This story is written as an interview/article for the Daily Planet. While not an all together unusual idea given Superman's close relationship with Lois Lane, this story is unusual in that Jimmy Olsen is the one doing the interview. Obviously, this is a bit unusual given that in traditional Superman fandom Jimmy is a photographer instead of a reporter but in this case I think it was an inspired choice.
There is something I find very believable about this story. It doesn't feel as contrived as a lot of the Lois Lane interview stories I've come across do. I think that this is mainly because I always have to ask myself how much of the truth Lois Lane knows, with Jimmy I'm confident that he's telling things like he sees them.
This fic isn't as long as I would have liked but it stuck to the format in which it was written well and left me feeling like I caught a glimpse behind the mask of Superman himself.
