After getting his ass handed to him in a Knockturn Alley duel, Harry decides he needs to learn how to make his own (more powerful) spells. Unfortunately, the only person he knows who has this ability is Snape and Harry's relationship with Severus Snape isn't one that allows for favors. The Half-Blood Prince, on the other hand...

I'm not a huge fan of time travel fic, but I do like stories that play with time in less conventional ways. Harry's idea on how to meet the Half-Blood Prince is an intriguing one and results in a believable and touching way for Harry and Severus to get together. At the same time, Harry's actions have unforseen consequences, which results in a heck of an angst-fest (despite the title, this story really doesn't have any humor in it).

Clever, angsty, and very satisfying, this fic is ideal for fans of alternative time fics.
