Review: I thought this story was a neat way of creating a character's backstory so that it handily explains small details that cropped up in canon. Since that was about as clear as mud, let me try to explain again: in this story, Sanji gets a family and a creepy childhood, and the fundamental morality of his character is set in stone by a tragic event shortly before Sanji runs away from home. Unfortunately for the chef of the Straw Hats, that childhood is coming home to roost, as a family member is tracking him down. I would hate to spoil the plot twists by being any more specific - as it is, the (necessary) warnings give away a great deal about the nature of his home island's culture. Kinda makes his position as a chef more interesting though, yes? And it casts a new light on his marooning with Zeff (spoiler for the unaware: Zeff was forced to eat his own leg, when their rations started to run out, as he gave the remaining rations to young Sanji rather than let Sanji starve).
As I said, I really liked the small details that were incorporated into the fic. Why Sanji used the fake name of "Mr. Prince", why he never pulls his hair back from one side of his face, and even, obliquely, why he can't hurt women... all these aspects of the canon characterization are explained in a way that I found to be plausible and One Piece canon-compliant. Do bear in mind that the story dates to 2006, so any more recent events and characters will obviously not be included.
