Jared, who doesn't understand commitment (and not really gay), takes out a personal ad (with a quote by Kerouac) after making a bet with Sandy. Jensen, who is also straight, answers that ad. The author shows us that friendship, with shared values and interests, is one of the most important things in a successful romantic relationship. A good life companion is someone you wouldn't mind seeing day after day and still have lots to talk about, someone who shares your sense of humor, someone that understands you, and some who trust you and you can trust back. This kind of love is hard to come by, and, well, that's one of the reasons why we have fanfic.

With a simple plot that's delightfully romantic and just the right amount of angst, this story will make you feel deliriously happy and believe in true love again.
