Author's Summary: This is a crossover with Highlander. It's a story about love, and loss, and moving on, with Kenshin as an Immortal. And you get one guess what Kenshin's opinion of The Game is!

Review:
As the author puts it in her notes, the story was originally conceived because of the similarities between Kenshin and Macleod. From the very first scene when Kenshin "meets" Macleod by stealing his car and breaks his neck in the getaway, the dynamic between the characters just clicks. That is not to say they are instant best friends – rather, they respect each other and go from there, trying to gain an understanding of the other. Mouse's examination of their ethical codes, swordsmanship, and way of navigating an evolving world is fabulous.

Kenshin is wonderful here – pretty much back to the wandering rurouni lifestyle but far more settled and at peace with himself. Granted there is the concomitant drama of being an immortal, but Mouse definitely accounts for the character growth he went through in the series proper and then adds on a few decades for a very believable immortal Kenshin. Given the nature of the crossover, it is inevitable that there be OCs, and Mouse's strong characterizations hold true even here. Her OCs are believably flesh and blood and fit seamlessly into the story.

Note that there are other stories set in this 'verse as well (a prequel and two sequels) if you're interested.
