Why do I love Derek and Stiles being tongue-tied here? I think it's the stellar dialog. And the grocery store ambush. The sheriff doesn't have the kneejerk reaction you'd expect from the father of a sixteen-year-old, but cornering Derek by the cold case has different results than he could've anticipated.

There's thoughtful writing that makes this seem longer than three scenes, and it's believable that Stiles would go to huge lengths to create a cover story for Derek's late night research visits, but never get around to coaching Derek in the lie. Thank goodness he didn't.
