Review:
In a post-apocalyptic world where the vamps have taken over, Spike is just spinning his wheels bored out of his mind. But when he discovers the picture of one Xander Harris, former Scooby, in a book of high-end human prostitutes his interest is piqued.

Despite the fact that this is a dark fic, it really doesn’t feel very dark at all, probably because in comparison to some of Witling’s other stories this is closer to gray. Don’t get me wrong. This is a dark fic. Set in a darkly dystopian future, how can it fail to be? But the relationship the boys build through the story is a definite bright point to the story.

I love Spike’s characterization in this. He’s the perfect combination of Season Two Big Bad and Season Four cunning. It’s refreshing to find a story where Spike’s not overly possessive. He’s still a bit jealous, but nothing over the top. Also, the OC in this definitely deserves a mention. Forsythe practically jumps off the page. His unrequited love is almost heart-breaking.
