Title: My Worst Case Scenario
Fandom: Scrubs
Pairing: Gen
Genres: Drama, Action
Length: Medium (13,105 words)

Author Website: gekizetsu @ FF.net
Author's Summary:
JD and Dr. Cox, a workshop, snark, guns, and grudging adoration.
Review:
When I saw that the theme rec for this month was Action/Adventure, I immediately thought of this fic. It's got an action movie plot, with BAMF!JD racing against time to get everyone out alive of a hostage situation. It takes place in a conference centre that he and Cox are attending a workshop at, and could easily feel random and shoehorned in, but the antagonists reasons for his anger do actually make sense.
The author has done well at portraying JD as a convincing BAMF - he's not depicted as Rambo, but rather just a guy with a strong moral compass and a fast sprint trying his best to help others. There are also consequences to JD's actions, with the aftermath of his ordeal explored by the author, rather than having him stride off into the sunset with a slo-mo explosion still going on behind him. This really helps in making the characterisation as good as it can possibly be in a situation so unlike Scrubs canon.
Other Scrubs characters are mentioned briefly and aren't present during the action. There is instead a significant focus on JD and Cox's relationship, which can be seen as pre-slash or the further development of an already present mutual respect. I read it as gen myself, though that could well be just because I don't like JD/Cox.
