Hi!

I'm new to the team and will be reccing from now on. :)

Title: The Last of his Breed
Fandom: Jurassic Park III
Pairing: Alan Grant/Bill Brennan
Categories: Romance
Length: long (26.173 words)
Warnings: dinosaurs, fund-raising

Author on LJ: n/a
Author Website: Adventures in Polyfandomy

Summary: Scenes from the post-JPIII Alan and Billy romance

Review:
The Last of his Breed is a story that always manages to make me happy. I love the interaction between the characters and all of the supporting characters are so much fun to read. Most of all I can't help but love Alan's peers who are sometimes more helpful with the Alan/Billy romance than Alan really wants.

Like others I loved dinosaurs as a kid (and in fact I still do) so the Jurassic Park world and the fandom are something that has been intriguing me for a long time. When I read The Last of his Breed I couldn't help but enjoy the insight we get into the world of academics. Even though the professor/student trope is something that people like to use in AUs and ARs, here it is something that's canon compliant and that doesn't just serve as the setting for the romance.

Amy Throck-Smythe is a fandom writer who is writing original fiction now that is also being published. Of her fandom work only The Last of his Breed and a story from Boy meets Boy are still available on her website.

The Last of his Breed
As a hello for my start a second rec:

Title: No Certain Victory
Fandom: The Mummy Returns
Pairing: Rick/Ardeth, Rick/Eve
Categories: Adventure
Length: super epic (app.700-800.000 words)
Warnings: torture, violence

Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] khamira
Author Website: Sheherazade's Scribblings

Summary: When Germany sends troops to invade Egypt, the Medjai find themselves with a new enemy, and a few surprising allies in the battle.

Review:
The Mummy Fandom is a fandom that is really small and so it was an even bigger and better surprise when I stumbled upon this gem of a story. Sheherazade and Kamira who are the original authors of 'No Certain Victory' manage to create a story with so many different layers that there is not a single second reading NCV that isn't filled with being entranced by the mythology, the interactions between the characters, the politics of this particular world and the action and adventure of the battles.

After reading NCV I immediatly bought the recommended book about Egypt because I wanted to know more about the culture, the history and the mythology that is such a big part of this universe. No Certain Victory consists of five books and once you've finished reading the over 1300 pages you want even more.

And this is the only fault of NCV, the authors promise at the end of book five that there will be a continuation in another story called 'An Uncertain Rest' but unfortunately Sheherazade died and so the sequel was put on hold. Kamira said in an e-mail I exchanged with her that she is continuing writing. So far no luck though. Her posting the story on AO3 now, I hope means that the sequel will be posted too. Let's wait and find out.

Hi, all! I'm new here. Please forgive my clumsy reviews, it's my one weak spot in reccing. I hope to get better at them. :)

Title: Pilgrim
Fandom: Highlander
Pairing: Methos/Joe
Categories: Romance, Post-Series
Length: Long (22,986)
Warnings: N/A

Author on LJ: N/A
Website: faviconAmberlee

Summary: Just when you think you know someone.

Review:
Uncharacteristically, Methos starts dropping obvious clues to Joe that he's leaving Seacouver. When Joe gets the call at 3:00am that "Adam" is headed toward the airport, Joe rushes to follow him. What he finds waiting for him forces him to reexamine everything he knows about Methos, as well as his own feelings toward the oldest Immortal.

The story is wonderfully written. The pacing of the story and spot on characterization make the pairing believable. It's an uplifting, delightful, gem of a story that shouldn't be passed up because of the pairing.
